Minutes of Canadian Association of Pathologists
Archives Committee and Executive Committee of the History of Pathology Club
Sunday July 4, 2004 5:30 – 6:15 PM
Hotel Omni Mont-Royal - Room 2708
Present:
Guillermo Quinonez - Chair
Bertha Garcia
Laurette Geldenhuys - Secretary
Items discussed:
Name of society
It was suggested that since at the meeting in Charlottetown in 2003, the
History of Pathology club was agreed to include not only history, but also
education and ethics, it might be appropriate to change the name of the club
to the Humanities in Pathology Society.
Electronic newsletter
It was suggested that presentations of the speakers at the History of
Pathology Club be published in the newsletter and on the CAP website, and
that the items for the electronic newsletter be posted on the website and a
regular e-mail message sent to society members and possibly other members of
the CAP to inform them of updates on the website.
Meeting in Victoria in 2005
Program
Members felt that it would be important to ensure that the meeting was
scheduled at a favorable time and that the meeting appeared in the
preliminary program.
Schedule
It was suggested that the number of topics discussed in the two hour meeting
be reduced from four to three to allow more time for questions and
discussion, and that the three topics address history, education and ethics
to reflect the areas of interest of the society.
Speakers
Possible speakers were discussed, and the list of speakers would be
finalized at a later date, as soon as possible, and submitted to the Local
Organizing Committee Chair and the Annual Meetings Chair for inclusion in
the program for next year.
