Diagnosis

  • Culture positive Blastomyces dermatiditis synovitis (North American Blastomyces)
  • Characteristic granulomatous and micro-abscess findings with fungal organisms largely in the giant cells visible in H&E or HPS routine stains
  • Patient’s Dog also had a lesion biopsied which was negative for Blastomyces
